I miss good weather

It really doesn't even have to be warm! Just sun out, dry ground. Not too cold, but not too hot. 60-70 degrees is fine with me. I just want to play golf!

It is becoming increasingly hard to write interesting things about not working when I don't have much to do but work! I have been doing a lot of work for Boadie over the past week, and I actually caught myself emailing him to tell him that I was bored so he needed to come up with something else for me to do! Am I getting sick too? Is this one of the symptoms all of the "Cruise Girls" are seeing?

I need some good weather, and some golf! I'm also going to start flying again when the weather is more stable. That should prove to be a great way to get out of working. I already have a few trips planned out. To get on the insurance for the new plane I have to go up with an instructor for 20 HOURS in this plane. That's about half of the hours it took me to get my certificate! We will knock them all out pretty quick though. We will go to Houston for lunch a few times, because that will be one of the main places I will fly to other than just going up and flying around here. It will take about 2 hours to fly to Houston. Man that will be nice.

Ok, that's enough for now. Remember when everyone had a new blog post every day?

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have pictures!

Just wanted to let everyone know that our New York pictures are up!

Abby worked extremely hard (and fast) to get them up quickly for everyone to see!

Enjoy!

We're Back! And Alive!

We made it back from The Big Apple Sunday night. It was really a great trip!

We didn't get mugged, shot, or prostituted, and we narrowly escaped death twice (Once on a horrible landing getting into NYC and again in the same night with the mouse in our hotel room - read the full story for more details).

In the 2 days we were there, we did the Empire State building, Madame Tussaud's wax museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, LOTS of walking and sight-seeing around New York City, and even saw an off-Broadway show (called "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, which was HILARIOUS!) and went to a stand-up comedy club. It was freezing cold most of the time (and freezing cold AND raining one day), but we still had lots of fun and it was such an amazing experience!

That was the SHORT SHORT version of our trip, because my lovely wife was nice enough to let me copy two of her emails! You can also take the time to read the full story! Click here for the full NYC story.

The full story is worth the read, but do it when you have a few minutes!

There will be a TON of pictures from our trip, so I'll do my part to get them uploaded as soon as possible (but we all know that Abby is one that makes this website run!). She should have them up sometime late this week or this weekend.

New York City???!!!

Well, its official. We are leaving for New York City in exactly 17 hours.

Yes, you read that right -- We NEVER do last-minute things like this, but it's something that started out as a joke (This afternoon, Abby reminded me that she has Monday off work for Martin Luther King Day, and I said "Hey, we should take a big trip!" She had no idea I was actually serious...). Then, I started looking online for last-minute travel deals, and I found a GREAT deal (that includes round-trip airfare and hotel) that we just couldn't pass up! Plus, who knows when we might ever get to do something like this again?

So, we have to work tomorrow morning, and then we're headed to the airport in Dallas to catch a 4:30 plane to New York City! This is CRAZY, but we're VERY excited!

Anyway, I guess I should go finish packing now, but I just wanted to let everyone know where we would be this weekend -- in NEW YORK CITY! I'm sure we'll have lots of great stories to tell and lots of fun pictures when we get back on Sunday.

P.S. Everyone watch Conan on Friday night. We are going to try to get on!

P.P.S. We'll give everyone's regards to Broadway!!!

Better than working

As I sit here with 45 minutes until I leave for my lunch hours, I really don't have enough time to start anything new, so I'll just blog!

First off just wanted to say a quick thank you to Tiffany for asking me to come to the Tanti meeting last night, I think a lot of good will come out of it.

Started off the day with a 9am meeting with Coach Kedy at Ada High. We got about 5 minutes into showing him the new Ada Cougar Athletics website when the schools internet decided to stop working! We'll finish up Thursday morning.

Thats really all I've accomplished so far today, had to run and work on a computer at my cousin Somerlyn's office. Ended up fixing that problem in about 3 minutes, then talking to Blake (of Box Video Rental fame) for about an hour.

I haven't plugged Box Video Rental in a while, anyone that hasn't tried it out you really need to. I don't know how we ever lived without it! If you are wanting to test it, now is a good time to do so, he is about to end his promotional pricing. I'm not exactly sure what the prices are going to be, but they will still be much cheaper than those other two rental places in town. Your best bet is to go to the website and get a subscription card or gift card. http://boxvideorental.com go there. Now.

Ok, thats good for now. If you are still reading this, WHY DIDN'T YOU GO TO BOXVIDEORENTAL.COM? GO!

Too Many Comments!

There are a ton of comments on the last post (TIFFANY), so I thought I should post something new so at least there wouldn't be 20 comments to wade through!

Not a lot to talk about lately, lots of working hard. I am presenting MyFamilyWebsites.com to Tiffany's (and Kiah I think?) Tante Group Monday night, so I have been touching up on the programming for that site. I've also been writing a new billing system. I've been paying for a billing system for 6 months that didn't even work the way I wanted it to! I finally got smart and decided to cancel my subscription and write my own software.

Lots of meetings tomorrow, I guess Boadie doesn't actually read my blog all that much or he wouldn't have agreed to an 8:30am Meeting tomorrow! Have lots of other stuff going tomorrow, 10:30 meeting, Noon Bible Study, and I actually have to work on top of that!

Things should slow down soon and I can get back to stories of not working!

Huge Thanks to my lovely wife for keeping up our website. She has been working since Christmas night on getting our Christmas pictures up, and they are all up now! This blog is the extent of my involvement in the upkeep of our site, it would be all blank without her!

Back to a Normal Schedule

Well, I was back to a normal schedue today after a much needed holiday vacation!

Made it to the office around 10:45. (I had some errands to run) Where I piddled around working on small odd tasks until noon when I went home to pick up Abby and Lunch. We hung out at the office until about 3. Then took off to run some more errands.

Just wanted to make a quick appology to all of those loyal jakeabby.com webcam fans. We are doing some work on our computers here at the house, and have been tying up our internet connection 24x7 for the past few days and the rest of today. Should be back up and running tomorrow sometime!

Has anyone noticed my new quotes at the top of the blog? They are from Mitch Hedberg, he is my new favorite comedian.

Ok, enough for now. It's 4:45 time to go start a movie!

All About Me?

My Really Long, Really Informative Questionaire

1. FIRST NAME?
Jake
2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? :
Jacob of Jacob and Esau Fame
3. DO YOU WISH ON STARS?
Can't say that I do
4. WHICH FINGER IS YOUR FAVORITE?
Being that I spend 10-12 hours a day on a keyboard, I would have to say all of them. If I had to choose to get one removed, I would have to say my Left Pinky. I just noticed that I don't use it at all when I type. Same goes for my left Thumb.
5. WHEN DID YOU LAST CRY?
Boys don't cry :)
6. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?
I don't mind it so much, but other people don't seem to be able to read it. Thats why I type everything!
7. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?
Turkey, Ham, Salami, Pepperoni, Ham and Cheese Loaf, I'm a big guy.
8. ANY BAD HABITS?
Procrastination, and cockiness about being the best programmer in town
9. WHAT IS YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING CD ON THE SHELF?
I don't keep my cd's on a shelf, does that get me out of this one? I do have an NSync CD that I burned, so at least I didn't pay for it.
10. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON, WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU?
I'm sure I would, everyone wants to be friends with me. (See There's that cockiness again)
11.ARE YOU A DAREDEVIL?
For those that have not read my kitten saving story, I would say yes. Abby says I'm an Idiot, not a daredevil.
12. HAVE YOU EVER TOLD A SECRET YOU SWORE YOU WOULD NOT TELL?
I tell Abby pretty much everything, but most people that tell me big secrets like that usually tell me I can tell her. So its pretty easy to keep from telling anyone else.
13. DO LOOKS MATTER?
Sometimes.
14. HOW DO YOU RELEASE ANGER?
When I was younger I had a thing for punching walls, then I broke my hand punching a wall and stopped. Now I am usually on the phone, so I just throw the phone at the couch. It is really loud when the phone misses the couch and hits the wall.
15. WHERE IS YOUR SECOND HOME?
As far as second home, I don't really have one. I never really lived in the house that Mom and Dad live in now. But I do know that I would be welcome to stay there if I ever needed to.
16. DO YOU TRUST OTHERS EASILY?
Way to easily.
17. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TOY AS A CHILD?
I was really really big into Hot Wheels.
18. WHAT CLASS IN SCHOOL DO YOU THINK IS TOTALLY USELESS?
(College Kids Stop Reading Here)
I feel that most classes are totally useless. This is coming from someone who learned his profession on his own, with no teachers or books. I can't say that College in general was completely useless, because without going away to school and having the support of my parents I would not have had a lifestyle that allowed me to go home from class and learn to write programs until the wee hours of the morning.
(Ok, you can read the rest)
19. DO YOU HAVE A JOURNAL?
What do you call this blog?
20. DO YOU USE SARCASM?
Noooooooo! I am one of the LEAST sarcastic people you will ever meet. *dripping with sarcasm*
21. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN A MOSH PIT?
Actually yeah, it wasn't as cool as it sounds
22. WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A MAN/WOMAN?
Brownish Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes with fleks of yellow around the center. (Good thing I found Abby!)
23. WHAT ARE YOURNICKNAMES?
Jake the Snake (as if that wasn't obvious), Snake, Snaker, Cake (*as in pancake block. From the football years), Jaker, Jakey, Poony Wooners (Mom in the early years, Kyle in the later years to make me mad). Tiffany called me J the other day but I don't think it will stick
24. WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP?
Probably, but there is no way in hades that Abby would let me.
25. DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF?
I have a thing for not wearing shoes with backs on them. Even my dress shoes are backless. I actually only wear Running shoes on the Golf course or to move stuff. I wear leather sandles in the Winter, and flip flops all through the summer.
26. DO YOU THINK THAT YOU ARE STRONG?
I'm a large fellow, it comes with the territory.
27. SHOE SIZE?
10 1/2 - 11
28. HOW MANY WISDOM TEETH DO YOU HAVE?
None - Two pulled, two cut. All in the same day though.
29. WHO DO YOU MISS MOST RIGHT NOW?
Brian - its always good to see him.
30. DO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO WHOM YOU SEND THIS TO SEND IT BACK?
I'm not actually going to email this to anyone, so if someone sent it back to me it would be a little awkward.
31.WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW?
Abby clicking on the other computer.
32.WHAT’S THE LAST THING YOU ATE?
Roast, Black Eyed Peas (For Luck), Corn Bread, Rice and Gravy, and Coleslaw (For Money). Thanks Candy!
(Also had a huge lunch today, BBQ Chicken, Corn on the Cob, Salad, Mini Potatoes, and a Fruity desert. Thanks Mom!) Having another huge lunch tomorrow too! Families are great!
33. LAST PERSON YOU TALKED TO ON THE PHONE?
Kyle, figuring out how to spell poony wooners. I didn't take his advice. He wanted me to spell it punny wooners. I think that sounds like puny (as in weak), when it is pronounced pOOny.
34. THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT THE OPPOSITE SEX?
I'm going to go with Tiffany and say Smile. Its always more pleasant to talk to someone that is smiling.
35. DO YOU LIKE THE PERSON WHO SENT THIS TO YOU?
I guess Tiffany technically sent it to me by saying that I was going to fill it out. So yeah, she's good. I like her. :)
36. HOW ARE YOU TODAY?
I'm full! Man this thing is long. I just looked to see how much I have left, there is a LOT!
37. EYE COLOR?
Brown and sometimes Green.
38. DO YOU WEAR CONTACTS?
Nope, wouldn't dream of touching my eyes. Abby had to hold me down just to give me eyedrops one time, and I still couldn't keep my eyes open. We had to squirt a lot of the drops on my eyes with them closed, then open my eyes to let the drops run in!
39.SIBLINGS?
Kyle (29ish), Kevin (27ish)
40. FAVORITE MONTH?
I'm gonna go with October, still warm enough to wear shorts and play golf everyday, but cooling off quickly!

43. FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR?
I try not to favor any of them.
44. ARE YOU TOO SHY TO ASK SOMEONE OUT?
Most people would say Heck No, but in reality Abby and I were friends for 6 months before I got the courage to actually tell her I wanted to be more than friends.
45. SCARY MOVIES OR HAPPY ENDINGS?
Anything works for me. I cry in movies with happy endings, wait I didn't say that. Boys don't cry.
46. RELATIONSHIPS OR ONE NIGHT STANDS?
Relationships
47. WHO IS MOST LIKELY TO RESPOND?
I think everyone who reads my blog that has one of their own has already responded.
48. WHO IS LEAST LIKELY TO RESPOND? -
Anyone that reads my blog and doesn't have one!
49. WHAT BOOKS ARE YOU READING?
I am in between books at the moment. I just finished reading the Patricia Cornwell series. (AKA The Kay Scarpetta Novels). They're great. Pretty much all I will read are Medical Thrillers. Robin Cook is my favorite Author. I've read all of his books, and own most of them. I read one book at a time though, and have been known to stay up until 6-7 in the morning to finish a book after starting it at midnight on many occasions.

Man this thing was long. Hope you had time to read it, cause I spent almost an hour filling it out!
